RAGE comes to the Mac

On Thursday, Aspyr Media announced the release of RAGE: Campaign Edition, the Mac version of the popular RAGE videogame. This game costs $39.99 and can be bought through the Mac App Store as well as other 3rd parties, including Aspyr's GameAgent.

RAGE®: Campaign Edition™ features the full, unaltered RAGE single-player campaign, bonus equipment formerly exclusive to the Anarchy Edition, including Double Barrel Shotgun, Rat Rod Buggy, Fists of RAGE, and Crimson Elite Armor, and access to the bonus Wasteland Sewers Missions which feature additional mutant blasting gameplay and looting opportunities.

Steam Mobile Opens Public Access

As you may have heard, last week Valve released their Steam Mobile app for both iOS and Android on a closed beta. Many users were upset because they couldn't do anything through the app without beta access. That all changes now though, Valve has opened the Steam Mobile service to all users.

Dolphin Browser for iOS [Free]

The popular Dolphin Browser for Android has made its way to the App Store. This third-party browser is free on the App Store and is fully compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. Dolphin Browser has a variety of features such as highly customizable gestures, built-in translations, speed-dial, tabbed browsing, and much more. However, Dolphin Browser is based off of Apple's WebKit so it won't be too much different than any other third-party iOS browser. Hit the link below to head over to Dolphin's website.

"App Store" for Windows 8 Confirmed by Microsoft

A recent post on Microsoft's "Building Windows 8" blog by Steven Sinofsky stated that Microsoft had assigned teams of developers to work on specific areas of the future OS. What caught our eye, thought, was that one of those focus areas was an App Store which is supposedly going to be complete in time for the launch of Windows 8.

New iTV?

AppleInsider has found evidence of an unknown device lurking in the USB configuration files of iOS 4.1.

“According to people familiar with the matter, the latest beta of iOS 4.1, due to ship in the coming weeks, includes three new “Configuration Descriptors” within its USB configuration files — all of which pertain to devices that list “Apple, Inc.” as their “manufacturer” — as can be seen in the screenshot below.”

“Finally, and most intriguing, is a previously undiscovered mention of a mysterious device listed only as “unknownHardware.” Although the configuration files tag this device with a unique Apple product ID of 20547, it’s textual descriptor is similarly listed as “Unknown- Add device descriptor info for this device.”

The unknown device has an Apple product ID in the 20,000s, suggesting that will be the reincarnation of the Apple TV, which is rumored to be compatible with the App Store. (Making this theory even more likely.)

As rumored, the IDs point to the iPod Touch getting a major overhaul, as well as the iPad. (Cameras, anyone?) For a closer look at when these Apple product IDs actually mean, check out this post at the Boy Genius Report.

Mac OSx on iPad (With Flash!)

Well…sort of. It’s actually an app called Desktop Connect which allows you to connect via VNC to share another computer’s desktop. A perfect shortcut for those who would rather have seen OSX on the iPad instead of a variation of the iPhone OS and don’t want to wait until it’s hacked.

It’s really easy to setup and you pull up an onscreen keyboard as well. It’s not perfect though. It’s pretty difficult to use an OS made for precision mouse clicking and attempt to control it using your large, stubby fingers. More iPad hacks to come! – subscribe so you don’t miss out.

Apple lifts 3G VoIP Restrictions

Amongst other news, Apple has lifted it's 3G restrictions in the developer SDK. The new wave of VoIP applications will now be able to take full advantage of the 3G network. iCall is the first application to use this feature.

Perhaps Apple is planning their own VoIP services on the iPhone?

iPad, Apple's new tablet device

Just one day ago Apple unveiled its newest creation, the iPad. The iPad follows the same principles as an iPod Touch/iPhone; but this one's got a 9.7" screen. The iPad can run all of your native iPod Touch/iPhone apps, plus a few more. Apple has also created iWork for the iPad, each app costs $10. The iPad an on-screen keyboard that works well, the iPad has 3 speakers as well. The iPad docks just like a normal iPod, through the same cables & uses the same program (iTunes). AT&T has also provided a no-contract 3G plan for the iPads.
